WP InstantPay Obtaining Your PayPal API Signature

I M P O R T A N T !

In accordance with PayPal’s Terms and Conditions, we do not collect, store or have access to your API Credentials, including your API Signature and Application ID. At no time should you share your API Credentials with anyone associated with or employed by Incansoft or any other third party, which is expressly forbidden by PayPal.

As you already know, you will need to add your PayPal API Signature to the WP InstantPay PayPal Settings form. This sounds more imposing than it really is, so follow the instructions below carefully to complete this step of the configuration – it should take no more than 5 minutes!

First, log into your PayPal account and click the Profile Link on the menubar. This is going to load the Profile page shown below (if you are using the newer PayPal Profile System, you may want to click the link to See The Classic Profile Version. This will allow you to follow the screen shots below a bit easier.)

Assuming you’ve clicked the API Access Link, the API Access page is going to load next. NOTE: If you do not see the API Access link in your Profile, this means you are not set up with a business account. You must change your account type from Personal to Business in order to use the Adaptive Payments API.

Next, click the View API Signature link – this will load the View API Signature Page for you. NOTE: Do not click the Grant API Permission link, which is used to set up permissions for third-party shopping cart services to access the PayPal API’s on your behalf.

Now just copy and paste this information into the matching fields in WP InstantPay PayPal Settings. While you are in there, you may as well enter your PayPal Email Address in the first field – this should be your Primary PayPal Email Address.

When finished, the first four fields should have data in them, while the PayPal Application ID field should still be blank. At this stage, go ahead and click the Save Changes button. This will save your configuration on the MySQL database where it will be secure. We’ll discuss how to obtain your PayPal Application ID on the next page.
